Family Unit - Introduction

Families are the bedrock of the community and society so this program aims at growing families. It addresses the individual needs of all the individual family members, reminding them of their responsibility to each other within the family, to the extended family, the community and the nation. The aims and objectives and delivery of the program are very similar, although with some individual tailoring, as to whether it is addressing men, women or children.

Marriage is an institution that was started by God in the Garden of Eden. God said, “it is not good for man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable” so God gave marriage as a gift to Adam and Eve, created perfect for each other. Marriage was not for convenience nor was it brought about by any culture it was instituted by God and has three basic aspects.

  • The man leaves his parents and in a public act promises himself to his wife.
  • The man and woman are joined together by taking responsibility for each other's welfare and by loving the mate above all others.
  • The two become one flesh in the intimacy and commitment in the sexual union that is reserved for marriage.

Strong marriages include all three aspects.
